The Grande Rogazione

The Grande Rogazione (Great Rogation), the traditional Asiago event par excellence, takes place on the day before Ascension. It’s a 33 kilometre pilgrimage that revives the ancient agricultural propitiatory celebrations accompanied by ancient songs and involving some serious merrymaking. For the occasion, the inhabitants of Asiago awake at dawn to the sound of the Cathedral bells.
